Counselling and psychotherapy

A bit about me

Hi I'm Annie,

I am interested in all schools of therapy and psychology. I have a degree in integrative counselling and psychotherapy. (BA Hons FDA) Plus the 2 year certificate prior to the degree.

I am a member of the BACP

(British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)

I believe I hold the personal qualities set out to aspire to from the BACP of empathy, sincerity, integrity, resilience, respect, humility, competence, fairness, wisdom and courage.

I have experience of working with all ages, from 18 to 80. I have worked with a wide range of people from all walks of life, backgrounds and cultures, covering a vast range of issues, presenting and underlying.

My background includes counselling at a women’s counselling centre, where I worked with women for two years covering many issues, including women who were referred to me by SARC (Sexual abuse and rape centre)

I have always known that eventually I would go into private practice so, from a professional viewpoint I wanted to expand my profile and experience. The suicide rates are much higher for men so, I decided to push for mental health support and awareness in a predominantly male workplace arena. I wanted to find a way to reach out to men who wouldn't normally consider counselling for various reasons, mainly through it not being easily accessible or encouraged.

My role as ‘Health and Social Care Coordinator’, for an international car manufacturing company, enabled me to implement support services that offered counselling sessions on site to all employees and raised mental health awareness across the board. My role included the delivery of many counselling sessions.
